From touring with Mickey Avalon to starring in Scary Movie 3, Simon Rex aka Dirt Nasty has shown a plethora of talent from acting in cameo roles to his success musically. While today’s rappers or big stars are concerned with praising their own ego, Rex is content to make songs about his “baby dick” an iconoclastic character. CIVIL: How did you come up with the name DIRT NASTY?

DIRT: My boy Ethan Browne called me when we lived in NY like 13 yrs ago and asked“What are u doing?” I replied”Chillin on my couch,Dirt Nasty style.”he said”That should be your rap name”.

CIVIL: There is candid honesty about the material you write, it is refreshing because a lot of rappers try to talk about something they are not. Do you find being true to yourself one of the things that has led to your success well since I’m an actor and not from the hood I can’t lie or be somethin fake, so I make fun of myself because u always win that way.

Dirt:I try to be funny at both….It’s easy to balance the two, since I hardly get hired to do either
