Nosaj Thing (Jason Chung) has been doing the thing for sometime now. His brilliant use of tonality, manipulating soundscapes with deft touch and dark, soulful vignettes is truly masterful.

A lot of times, the producer in music, doesn’t get as much shine as one deserves. I think the Neptunes era gave much more recognition to this in terms of the mainstream media seeing this. Instead of just being the “Beat guys”, they are appreciate for the virtuosity and genius they deserve as real artists. In Jason’s case, lyrics aren’t always necessary, the music speaks for itself.

What I observe with Nosaj as an artist is that when he remixes another artists music, (collaboration), he manages to let the qualities of their music shine while giving it his own flavor. Many times, the artist that facilitates the remix makes it so you can’t appreciate the original work, the goal is to highlight their strengths with yours. Nosaj does so with relative ease.

The good stuff plain and simple.

I guess they felt like every Tom, Dick , and Harry has a tattoo. This might be the thing that will separate them from those Ed Hardy fathers, and the drunk girls at 2 a.m…I’m kind of glad they did this to tell you the truth. Tattoos were originally for the bad boys and  bad girls…unless your from some type of native tribe…that might be an exception. But for the most part, the only people who got tatt’s back in the day were sailors,bikers, and other bad boys…and bad girls for that matter. I’m not talking about centuries ago when people got tattoos for some type of right of passage. Or tattoos from samurai or Yakuza. I’m talking about Western society about 50 years ago. Maybe Polynesians…but anyone else who had at tattoo was looked at in a certain way…Probably a bad way. Now tattoo can be found everywhere.  Getting your eyeball tattooed might be the only thing that modern society will not do. Well you never know…50 years from now that might be the trendy thing. What are your thoughts on tattoos nowadays.
