Today I finally got a chance to check out Brian Viveros and Dan Quintana’s: Desensitized! Days before I checked out the show, I prepped myself by looking at some of Viveros early work and some of his current stuff as well. I wanted to get more familiar with his stuff before I drove anywhere. This was going to be the first time seeing his work in person. However, Ive known about Dan Quintana for quite a while now. He has always been a talented artist from what I can remember…I wasn’t that surprised that he turned out this good. His work speaks for itself. By the way… I have a funny story about Daniel… about 8 years ago I was break dancing with a friend in my garage, when Daniel happen to walk by and notice us. He came into the garage…called us out for a battle…he took his shoes off and got down at that very moment. We danced for a good thirty minutes before Daniel packed his stuff and went on his way. The funny part about it is I didn’t even really know who he was at that time…It was kind of like a New York thing…when you used to see a rival crew getting down at the corner…BAM!…a battle. Anyway, here’s a few pics from the show…Enjoy!

The Third & the Seventh

The Third & The Seventh from Alex Roman on Vimeo.

A FULL-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects
are already-built spaces. Sometimes in an abstract way. Sometimes surreal.

A- team Trailer…

Aka the Reason Rampage won’t fight Rashad.

mr-t-a-team

Should we be mad that one of the world’s best light heavyweights postponed one of the most anticipated fights to pursue a lucrative opportunity and to further his “advance” his acting career? In a word, yes and no. The UFC does have a tendency to treat their fighters like shit.

From Rampage’s account, Dana White kept on pushing him into fights when he wasn’t ready for them and for the most part he stepped up. The Chuck Liddell fight was only his second UFC fight, and before that he had fought the over the hill Marvin Eastman. Jumping into the Dan henderson fight and the Wanderlei fight, he had a hand injury.

Ok, Rampage’s job is to be a fighter, he’s not an actor, comedian, or any other sort of entertainer. Fighting is Quinton’s bread and butter, does anyone think he is going to be taken serious as an actor? As much as Randy Couture and the Rock are. Sure you might land a role here or there and get paid. But unless you have some serious acting chops or buzz, it isn’t likely.

Rampage needs to give the fans what they want, a fight with Rashad. How anti-climatic, that one of the biggest feuds in MMA history, true “Black on Black crime” as Quinton would put it, would be put on hold. I hope it was worth it. I don’t have a problem with Rampage going out and making some cheddah, but don’t cut down one of your best fights to do it. a-team_movie_image_cast_bradley_cooper_rampage_jackson_sharlto_copley_liam_neeson_01

Retna X El Mac X Kofie X Mear One at Riviera and Riviera…

Posted in All, Art, Culture, Events, People, Photography on January 27th, 2010 by Bear

Last year, Civil did an interview with the man, Retna. This Friday, I had a chance to check out a show by the powers that be. An awesome tour de force of Kofie, Mear one, Retna and El mac. Its rare to get to see such accomplished artists/ graff legends do a show together. One of the benefits in living near LA, is the rapid access to cultural art and events. I felt it was time to take full advantage of what was to offer that evening..

Freestyle Soccer…Diego Souza.

diegoblog-1

Bboying is something I have done for more than 7 years. I was apart of a crew…I battled…rocked circles…lost battles…won battles…I did the whole sha-bang. It isn’t so often I get a chance to practice anymore, until today. But today was a bit different…Today bboying was mixed with soccer. I was recently introduced to a new culture known as freestyle soccer. Although I don’t  play soccer; “free-styling” is something I can relate to.I see a lot of the same elements and characteristics freestyle soccer has with break dancing. Freestyling has its own  foundation …which can relate to “footwork” in bboying. However, every person has their own style and moves that they’re known for. Unless someone bites yo sh*t!! haha

Today I had the pleasure of helping a good friend of mine practice for his World Cup Freestyle Soccer tour sponsored by Budweiser. Soccer player/ Bboy Diego Souza was chosen amongst many others who tried out for the position. With his bboy flavor, and expertise in soccer…Diego is a force in the freestyle soccer world…

Spider: Short film…

Posted in All, Art, Culture, Events, Film, People, Sports on January 26th, 2010 by Bear

One of the Sundance hopefulls. Warning: This film is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Jack and Jill are always hurting each other’s feelings. But like Mum said, “It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye.” Spider was directed by Nash Edgerton and produced by Blue-Tongue Film…
