As you’ve noticed, I have been documenting the swell that has been going on at the Redondo beach break wall. Yesterday I went back to break-wall with high hopes and wishful thinking. I did my normal routine…I parked the car, got out and ran toward the guarding brick wall which surrounds the beach. To my surprise I looked out and saw what I, and many others have been waiting for. Today was the day!!  Waves that resembled  small mountains were rolling in at  20 ft on the face. Only the more daring surfers walked the warrior path into the water to challenge mother nature. Some were victorious… Some weren’t so lucky…

 

James Luhrsen “Sarge”… Local at this beach for over 30 years. Still charging! If you look closely at the nose of his board he has a sergeant badge to show who’s boss in the water. Don’t mess with Sarge…

Jude Luhrsen…another  local with seniority, and a known ”enforcer”… walks the path to face the giants.

 

 

I don’t know if there will be another swell like this in the year 2010…but if there is…I’ll be there..till next time…see ya.
