Scott, a jazz musician/composer/inventor who put out the bulk of his work from the 1930′s to the 1970′s, contributed so much to the evolution of music during the 20th century that it would be hard for me to do it justice in just a short piece. He is perhaps best known as the man behind the soundtrack to the Looney Tunes cartoons. Scott was credited as mentor to Robert Moog, who created the legendary Moog synthesizer, a tool used from yesterday to today.

One can definitely draw a parallel between all these musicians who not only are influential in their work, but also invent and utilize technology to suite their needs. Raymond Scott, being so versatile, as a musician as an inventor. Dilla’s ability to create coherence and organic soulful pieces out of bleeps and samples. Flying Lotus’ other wor’dly etheral style that just takes you to that other world, but his creativeness using technology to further his potential.
