The following video leads me to believe Silva was either misquoted in the translation with reporters, hyping up what he said to cause controversy, or that Silva really adopts the attitude that few people impress him.

What is funny is that when you watch the beginning of the video, he says BJ doesn’t impress him, he later goes on to call him “The best” and when asked if the best pound for pound fighter is Penn, he says “maybe” while declining both Fedor and GSP.

Should we be mad that one of the world’s best light heavyweights postponed one of the most anticipated fights to pursue a lucrative opportunity and to further his “advance” his acting career? In a word, yes and no. The UFC does have a tendency to treat their fighters like shit.

From Rampage’s account, Dana White kept on pushing him into fights when he wasn’t ready for them and for the most part he stepped up. The Chuck Liddell fight was only his second UFC fight, and before that he had fought the over the hill Marvin Eastman. Jumping into the Dan henderson fight and the Wanderlei fight, he had a hand injury.

Ok, Rampage’s job is to be a fighter, he’s not an actor, comedian, or any other sort of entertainer. Fighting is Quinton’s bread and butter, does anyone think he is going to be taken serious as an actor? As much as Randy Couture and the Rock are. Sure you might land a role here or there and get paid. But unless you have some serious acting chops or buzz, it isn’t likely.

Rampage needs to give the fans what they want, a fight with Rashad. How anti-climatic, that one of the biggest feuds in MMA history, true “Black on Black crime” as Quinton would put it, would be put on hold. I hope it was worth it. I don’t have a problem with Rampage going out and making some cheddah, but don’t cut down one of your best fights to do it.

Rampage/ Rashad moments…

Silva, has walked through world-class opponents like pie, making them look human. In essence, he has cleaned out a once highly touted division and made it look thin. Since eliminating the set of world class challengers, Vitor Belfort poses a most interesting style matchup. A once, mentally broken Vitor was criticized as being not mentally tough to utilize the talent he was blessed with. Vitor’s hand speed, excellent boxing may prove to be the closest thing to a good striker that Mr. Silva has seen. Out of all the styles that Anderson has faced, he has not dealt with someone that possesses Vitor’s tools, lighting fast hands capable of tearing through world champions with ease, in the case of Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva. However, I believe that Anderson’s striking is more well rounded, pinpoint. I feel Anderson is too smart to get caught by Vitor. He will utilize the clinch, one of Vitor’s weakness, if you watch any of the Couture- Belfort fight, to neutralize The phenom’s offense.

The Silva-Belfort bout was scheduled for UFC 108, however, Silva underwent elbow surgery and had to withdraw from the card.

Since returning to the UFC, Vitor Belfort has been looked at as the next challenger for Anderson Silva’s title. Belfort ran through Rich Franklin at UFC 103 and he will now attempt to capture the middleweight gold.
