A View to Kill

Between August and October 2011, the crew aboard the International Space Station filmed low-orbit images of earth. This said footage was then placed in Michael König‘s artful hands, and — after much processing and editing — came a gorgeous five-minute rendering of earth and its nighttime landscape from space. Snow filled peaks, aurorae borealis, sparks of lightning and the yellowish, lava-like glow of civilization all command the screen as the ISS orbits steadily over. If there ever was a video of earth from space you had to see, this is the one.

Here is a list of the locations in the video in order of their appearance:

2. Aurora Borealis and eastern United States at Night
3. Aurora Australis from Madagascar to southwest of Australia
4. Aurora Australis south of Australia

8. Night Pass over Central Africa and the Middle East
9. Evening Pass over the Sahara Desert and the Middle East
10. Pass over Canada and Central United States at Night
11. Pass over Southern California to Hudson Bay
12. Islands in the Philippine Sea at Night
13. Pass over Eastern Asia to Philippine Sea and Guam
14. Views of the Mideast at Night
15. Night Pass over Mediterranean Sea
16. Aurora Borealis and the United States at Night
17. Aurora Australis over Indian Ocean
18. Eastern Europe to Southeastern Asia at Night

Al Merrick : Dumpster Diver Review

Okay so for a while now I’ve been experimenting with new boards/shapes. My usual dimensions are 5’10, 18 3/8 ,2 1/8 squash or swallow tail depending on summer or winter. Since summer is knockin I decided to pick up a few Dumpster Divers. You may have seen Dane Reynolds blowin up on these. I picked up a 5’4, 19, 2 1/8. I rode it the past few days and its definitely taken my surfing up a notch and is perfect for summer waves. So if your in the market for a summer board I highly recommend adding a dumpster diver to your quiver.

J Dilla- Geek Down

To properly celebrate their 25th anniversary Stones Throw decided to let their fans get involved. The idea is to have fans participate in a video contest. Today we have a submission from Steve Smith of Detroit, MI. He took the time to create a video for “Geek Down” by the late James “J.Dilla” Yancey. Smith decided to go with a psychedelic, 70’s style cartoon. Interesting is not quite the word to describe what’s going on in the mini film, but imaginative nonetheless.
