Samii Ryan, 23, Accessory Designer/Blogger/Model, Bethlehem, PA
How do you celebrate the difference?
I celebrate the difference because I have accepted the fact that there is only one Samii Ryan in this Universe, no one can replace me or be better than me simply because they are not me. I work my butt off and live in a small town in Pennsylvania, which no one expects because I am always in NYC and LA.. The thing is though we can go anywhere, we are not a tree, get up take a drive or go and get on a plane. Live your dream and don’t let anyone stop you from being you.
How did you first get into modeling?
I have always wanted to model. When I was 15 I dragged my Mom to NYC and found an agent. I then started acting.. then down the road blogging and accessory design.
Had you always planned on being a professional model?
Hell yes. I rehearsed it all in my head already.. so now it’s game time.
How would you describe your style? Any fashion icons you particularly admire?
I would describe my style as Urban Chic I guess? I love incorporating huge hoops, and a ton of accessories. My go to look is a big shirt, no pants and some platform heels! haha
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen their style is so unique and so them I love it. Everyone knows that they look like they dress poor but they are wearing the latest Chanel, or Givenchy. They make it their own, and I love their entrepreneurial business sense. Girl bosses for sure.
Aside from modeling, you are also a jewelry designer. How did you get into the accessory designing business?
I have always loved fashion, made my own clothing and made unique accessories. I started out by making feather hair clips and earrings that were worn by Ke$ha, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Victoria Justice and many many more celebrities. Right now I am coming out with a new line called “White Light” which has a lot of stones and positive saying incorporated. Which will be released in November.
You also run a dope fashion/style blog with Regime Girl Alysha Nett. How did you two first meet and decide to run a fashion site together?
We actually were instagram friends haha I guess and we met in person for the first time at our mutual friend, Bridget and went to a Stars Wars themed burlesque show together. We hit it off and now were killin it with our blog!
What do you love most about fashion blogging?
I love showcasing my unique every day style, I love showing our readers that you can look dope wearing cool clothing or dressing like the boys and still look chic. You don’t need to wear YSL and Givenchy to have style… that my friend is just a label.. you can’t buy style. I also love writing it is one of my many passions. I can sit at a computer for hours and just type. Hense why I have a personal blog, which you can pretty much read about my entire life.
Fashion and self-expression through unique style is obviously important in your life and career, but how would you personally describe “beauty”?
I think beauty comes from within. This year has been a really crazy roller coaster for me, and the only way I am able to ground myself is to focus on my inner beauty and the light that I have. Beauty is your heart, your soul, your path. It is who you are meant to be seen as.
What’s next for you? Do you have any new projects that you are working on?
Coming out with 2 new jewelry lines, filming a tv show, writing an expose, blogging, and modeling.. Just a few things haha
